We have begun digitizing the archives of provincial architect Jozef Schellekens and the Atelier Carli Vanhout – Paul Schellekens Ass. These unique collections contain building plans, sketches, photographs, correspondence, and other documents that paint a rich picture of modernism and the Turnhout School in the twentieth century.
Under the guidance of Erfgoed Noorderkempen and with the invaluable commitment of volunteers from Allemaal Digitaal, this heritage is being made accessible step by step. It involves thousands of pieces that need to be carefully scanned, described, and preserved.
It’s a long-term process that requires a lot of time, patience, and dedication. But thanks to these efforts, the modernist heritage of Turnhout and the Kempen will not be lost, but will remain visible, consultable, and usable for researchers, residents, and enthusiasts in the future.
