Kwakkelstraat House – Turnhout
Kwakkelstraat 106, 2300 Turnhout
1930
One of the few private residences that Jozef Schellekens designed before he was appointed as provincial architect. Probably dates after his studies at the Academy of Antwerp.
Modern terraced house in brick consisting of two floors and two bays under a flat roof (originally). The narrower left bay contains the entrance door and stairway, illuminated by a vertical series of small windows. The wide right bay contains the living spaces. Each floor has one large window with a drip edge above it, emphasizing horizontality.
